So let say that we have a class network 220.127.116.11 here in our organization with a Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Our aim here is to break this network into 50 smaller network.
So bear in mind that we are creating more networks
We will bring up our chart which is very important 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 to make your subnetting faster, for me once I see the number of networks that I need to create, I have already known how many bit it will take to get to that number so no need for long calculations and drawing just remember to save time since you’re in the exam here 64 is bigger than 50 so automatically it takes 6 bit to get to number 50.
Step2 line up out subnet mask in bit 255.255.255.0 = 1111111.11111111.11111111.00000000
Turn on 6 bits to get your new subnet mask we will have 11111111.11111111.11111111.11111100
to avoid long calculation again you will know that if you sum all the number in the chart we will get 255 so here I will just minus 255 from my last two octet an I will have my new subnet mask and that is 255-3= 252
my new subnet mask to address this network becomes 255.255.255.252
Step3 use your increment to find your network ranges… our increment here is last octet then covert number we have 4 this will make our new network address to become as follows:
